Crystal Spray is the newest boat in the Fastcats fleet, an 11.2 metre catamaran built by Cheetah Marine on the Isle of Wight in 2017 and now berthed at Port Pendennis in Falmouth.
Twin hulls make her extraordinarily stable, which matters when you are standing in a harness with a tuna on. There is a full walkaround deck, an enclosed wheelhouse to get out of the weather, and an upper helm so the skipper can see what the fish and the birds are doing long before you can.
Twin Yamaha 300s give better than 30 knots flat out and a comfortable 20 knot cruise, so the grounds come to you and the day is spent fishing rather than travelling. Outriggers and a full set of rod holders run round the deck.
She is coded for ten passengers plus crew and carries two life rafts, automatic lifejackets and a full flare pack, so there is room for a big group and the safety kit to match.
